About Us
History
If you're interested in cultures, you probably already heard about CultureCafe back in 2008, perhaps because you helped us test the original site, used it, or heard about us in the news. CultureCafe launched in Montreal in September 2008, as a social media site, helping cultural communities in and around Montreal find places, people, events, and things from their cultural communities. The site's founders, both of foreign backgrounds and living in Montreal, knew all too well how difficult it is to connect with one's cultural heritage locally. Out of this need, CultureCafe was born. Unfortunately, the site launched in the midst of one of the worst financial crises of the century, making fundraising terribly difficult. CultureCafe, the social media site, shut down in 2009.
We're Back!
CultureCafe.com has returned, in a new way. Knowing full well that the need for cultural communities to connect still exists, CultureCafe is wearing a new hat! CultureCafe offers people interested in a cultural community the ability to enjoy the products and services available to them at a discount. Businesses and societies in your cultural community have agreed to offer you promotions which you can access through the annual CultureCafe Card. Right now we are focusing on the Austrian, German, and Swiss communities in and around Montreal, but our plan is to expand this to other cultures in the near future.
I hope our dedication to cultural communities is evident and that you feel we fill a need through our new CultureCafe Card.
